Harghita County Council introduces changes for sustainable development in the County Council building, in the spirit of waste reduction and environmental awareness. Zero Waste is an effort to reduce garbage production and waste disposal. The long-term goal of the institution is to achieve Zero Waste Building certification offered by Zero Waste Europe.
Harghita County Council will encourage the staff of the institution to follow the Zero Waste lifestyle principles by offering various rewards. The first step is the identification of the problem, followed by awareness raising, and then slowly a change in lifestyle will take place. As a first step in this process, on 4 October, Anita Szőcs, an environmental engineer in the County Council’s paid internship programme, gave a presentation to colleagues at the institution on the importance of going zero waste.
