Preparation-renewal of identity cards

ISSUE OF THE IDENTITY CARD ON EXPIRY OF THE VALIDITY PERIOD, CHANGE OF NAME/SURNAME, CANCELLATION OF THE DOCUMENT, CHANGE OF PHYSIOGNOMY, LOSS, THEFT, DESTRUCTION OR DAMAGE OF THE IDENTITY CARD, CHANGE OF STREET NAME OR RENUMBERING OF BUILDINGS

Original documents required:

– Application for the issue of an identity card

– Identity document

– Birth certificate

– Marriage certificate, in the case of married persons or surviving spouse

– Final/irrevocable divorce certificate/judgment

– Land register excerpt or document proving the original residence address, the land register excerpt must be obtained no later than 30 days before the date of application

– Receipt for the payment of the ID card

In the event of a change in the surname and/or forename of the holder, the forename of the parents, the date or place of birth, the original of the administrative act on the basis of which the civil status data were changed shall be presented.

If the applicant is not the owner of the property, the host’s declaration of occupancy is required, accompanied by the host’s title deed, which is to be recorded on the application in the presence of the registration officer. The declaration of the host’s reception in the premises may be given in the country, no later than 90 days before the date of submission of the application for the issuance of the identity card before the notary public or abroad, no later than 6 months before the date of submission of the application for the issuance of the identity card at the diplomatic mission or consular office of Romania abroad.

If the applicant for a new identity card has not reached the age of 18 years at the date of submission of the application, the documents listed under “ISSUANCE OF THE IDENTITY CARD AT THE AGE OF 18 YEARS” are required.
